  • “Capt. Carlisle” unveiled: MiG-23 dedicated to ACC Commander

    A Russian MiG-23 fighter aircraft nicknamed “Captain Carlisle” was dedicated in honor of Gen. Hawk Carlisle, commander of Air Combat Command, during an Oct. 17 ceremony at the Threat Training Facility on Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada. The mission of CONSTANT PEG was to train U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy and U.S. Marine Corps combat fighter aircrews on the best ways to fight and win when encountering MiGs in aerial combat. Carlisle was the chief of weapons and tactics as well as flight commander for the 4477th Test and Evaluation Squadron at Nellis AFB from 1986 to 1988.
  • Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Operational Energy visits Tinker

    Roberto Guerrero, deputy assistant secretary of the Air Force for Operational Energy, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Installations, Environment and Energy, visited Tinker Air Force Base Sept. 13. The Deputy Assistant Secretary was accompanied by two members of his staff, Col. Charles Bulger, director, Energy Analysis Task Force, and Gregory Roberts, chief of Aviation Operations Policy.
  • ‘Vikings’ host 552nd ACW honorary commanders

    Seventeen members of the 552nd Air Control Wing’s Honorary Commander’s Program gathered Sept. 28 for their quarterly meeting. Hosting the gathering were the “Vikings” of the 960th Airborne Air Control Squadron. Displays were set up in several of the squadron offices and honorary commanders were briefed on various crew duties and responsibilities. A static display tour of an E-3 Sentry aircraft closed out the day’s activities.

  • 9/11 Memorial 5K Run/Walk to Remember, Resiliency Luncheon

    Almost 1,000 people participated in the 2nd Annual Run to Remember 9-11. The 5K/2K run/walk was coordinated by the Tinker Center for Religious Excellence (C.O.R.E.) and this year’s theme was, “United, Remember, Defend” to honor the memory and continued sacrifices of America’s first responders.
