Tinker Airman found safe in MN

Senior Airman Scott Young, a member of the of the 964th Airborne Air Control Squadron at Tinker Air Force Base,  was found safe at 10 p.m. last night in Minnesota.

Senior Airman Young was reported as AWOL or “Absent Without Leave”, from his unit on March 27 as base officials began to locate the member after he did not report for duty or check in with supervisors. 

“The 552nd Air Control Wing is pleased to report that law enforcement officials including US marshals assisted by Air Force Office of Special Investigations personnel found Senior Airman Young and took him safely into custody in the vicinity of St. Paul, Minnesota,” said Col. Geoffrey Weiss, 552nd Air Control Wing commander. “We were able to pinpoint his location and safely apprehend Senior Airman Young thanks to the remarkable efforts and cooperation of a dedicated team of AF OSI investigators, the US marshals, and other federal, local, and base officials.  We are also very grateful to the local community for getting the word out so quickly.”

At this time, the disappearance, his motivations and intent are under investigation.
