TINKER AIR FORCE BASE, Okla. -- Phase II of Tinker Air Force Base’s $9.7 million four-gate construction project will begin at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 14.
The construction project is to enhance security on Tinker AFB and this phase is expected to last four months. The Gott Gate, located on south Air Depot Blvd. near the clinic, will open as a 24-hour gate. Tinker’s Truck Gate will also close at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 14 for equipment move to its new location, the Piazza Gate, which will also close at 5:30 p.m.
The Piazza Gate will serve as a temporary truck gate for the duration of the construction project, and it will reopen at 6 a.m. Dec. 17.
New hours for the truck gate will be 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Saturday. For after-hour truck access, to include the period of time between Dec. 14 and Dec. 17, commercial vehicle drivers can call the Emergency Control Center at 734-3737 for access. Personnel who usually use the Piazza Gate will not be permitted to use it for entering or exiting the installation while it is serving as the Truck Gate but will still be able to access the Pegasus Gate open from 5:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday or the 24-hour Gott Gate.
