Nearly 250 members of the 965th Airborne Air Control Squadron returned to Tinker Air Force Base Mar 21, following their deployment to Southwest Asia in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. Hundreds of family members and squadron team mates were on hand to greet the returning warriors.
“It is great to have them back home,” said 965th AACS Commander, Lt. Col. Alan Avriett. “These Airmen spent their holidays delivering vital command and control for Operation Inherent Resolve. Having AWACS in that region allows coalition forces to take the fight to the enemy on the ground.”
The colonel went on to say that teamwork among the various coalition partners was crucial to success. “As part of a larger team, they ensured dynamic, yet focused C2 operations, supplying phenomenal air power to OIR coalition forces.”
