Expeditionary Airmen take control of the sky over Afghanistan avalanche rescue effort

Expeditionary Airmen from the 965th Expeditionary Airborne Air Control Squadron deployed from the 552nd Air Control Wing at Tinker Air Force Base, Okla., flew an E-3 Sentry Airborne Warning and Control Systems aircraft over the site of an avalanche disaster in Afghanistan's Parwan Provice to provide their air management capabilities to assist with the rescue effort. Seventeen Airmen shown here out of the two-dozen aircrew who flew the mission Feb. 9, hold 14 different crew positions. Some positions require multiple personnel to manage. The crews support troops on the ground in multiple ways. In this case, bringing security and safety to a congested airborne emergency while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
