A rivalry is born. A few months ago the U.S. hockey team surprised the heavily favored Canadian team in the preliminary round of the Olympic Games. The Canadian team avenged the loss in the final winning the game and the Gold medal.

The hockey rivalry between the two nations has found its way to the 552nd Air Control Wing. Teams representing the two countries assigned to the 552 Air Control Wing will face-off on 23 April 2010 at the Blazer Ice Centre in Oklahoma City.

"We're expecting a good turnout" said Capt Iwanenko, team captain for the U.S. team. "These are not just a bunch of guys on skates pushing each other around", Capt Iwanenko explained "more or less everyone has some experience on the ice and every one of them is anxious to represent their team."

The spirited rivalry began after the American's surprised the Canadians with a one-goal victory in the inaugural CAN/AM Cup. Of course the Canadian team didn't take it too well, especially since hockey is Canada's national pastime. This year's hockey game should be an epic clash of the titans, and best of all its free!

Event coordinators are looking to exceed last years' attendance by offering activities for the entire family. This year's event will include activities, games, moonwalks, contests, and drawings for prizes. A "Shooter Tutor" and a "Shoot the Puck for Lunch" contest will be conducted at halftime.

In addition, the Blazer Centre has also agreed to offer everyone attending the game five dollar skating, including skates, after the game.

"We believe it's a great opportunity to spend time with the family and enjoy a great hockey game" said Captain Iwanenko.  Let the games begin!
