An Airman with the 552nd Air Control Wing at Tinker Air Force Base was lauded recently with a major command-level award.

Staff Sgt. Ayanna Thomas was presented with the 2011 Air Combat Command Information Dominance Knowledge Operations Management Noncommissioned Officer of the Year Award by Col. Greg Guillot, 552nd ACW commander, prior to his bi-weekly staff meeting on Sept. 6 in the 552nd ACW Conference Room.

"I'm just extremely honored and thankful for all the people who have supported me throughout my career to this point," Sergeant Thomas said.

Sergeant Thomas, a knowledge operations management journeyman who serves as noncommissioned officer-in-charge of the 552nd ACW command section, was recognized with the major command-level award for her outstanding leadership abilities and exceptional management skills, among other things.

Sergeant Thomas was submitted for the award when she was assigned to the 552nd Operations Group from Jan. 1 - Sept. 30, 2011. During this period, she accomplished a number of major achievements and established several "best practices" in the performance of her duties.

"The Airmen of the 552nd Air Control Wing are extremely proud that Staff Sergeant Thomas has been recognized for her outstanding service," Colonel Guillot said. "Earning a MAJCOM-level award is a lasting tribute to the accomplishments of this outstanding leader.

"We are very proud of her and appreciate all she did to earn this honor."
